Wilson Smith Jr.

With great sadness we announce that our parents, Wilson Eugene “Smitty” Smith, Jr., 76, and Mary Jane “Janie” Smith, 69, of Sandia, Texas abruptly went to be with our Lord on March 21, 2015. Dad was born March 10, 1939 in Raymondville, Texas to Wilson Eugene Smith and Minnie Dee Smith. Mom was born July 28, 1945 in Seguin, Texas to Luke Woodrow Parchman and Marie Parchman. They were married in holy matrimony April 17, 1965.   Before retiring Dad served the community as business owner of J & S Imported Auto Parts which is still in operation today, owned by his two sons, Marcus Eugene Smith and Rodney Wayne Smith. You could always count on Dad to help you when you needed it. He had pride in the fact that he was a jack of all trades. He had twenty or more jobs from the time he was a young boy, as well as serving in the Army. His knowledge from mechanics, carpentry and everything else was astounding. He was a father, husband, grandpa, mentor and fishing buddy.   Mom was a lifetime homemaker and caregiver. She was a caregiver for her parents in their last years of life and was the caregiver for Dad before they both went to be with the Lord. She was very loving and provided the perfect home life for us children to become God-fearing, productive citizens of this society. She was a mom, wife, grandma and a good friend and listener. You could always count on Mom to be there for anything. Both Mom and Dad worked very hard and provided us with everything we could possibly need and want in life. We are eternally grateful for the time we had with them, but wish we had more.   They are survived by their three children, Debra Kay Stewart, Marcus Eugene Smith and Rodney Wayne Smith; grandchildren, Lawrence Worthington, Ryan Smith, Reid Smith, Katelyn Smith, April Gutkowski and Dalton Stewart.   Visitation with the family present will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 in Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi.
