William Aubrey Harper, Jr. (Aubrey) passed away November 11, 2020 at the age of 81. Survivors include his wife, Karen Denson Harper, children Amy (Edward) Floyd, Bill (Michelle) Harper, Ann (Colin) Martin, Mike (Amanda) Harper, Sara (Tyler) Joyner and grandchildren, Gerad, Mary, Trenton, Harper, Harris, Jude, Mia and Nora.
He led a long, happy and interesting life, beginning work at around 9 years of age driving cattle horseback. He worked in an ice house and a gas station, sold watermelons and picked cotton. He was a graduate of Banquete High School in 1957, served in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged on August 28, 1965.
He was a farmer, rancher, cotton ginner, crop duster and boat captain. He loved to fly and fish. And have fun.
Of all his careers, Sgt. Harper loved being in law enforcement. He spent more than 37 years in law enforcement including patrol, narcotics, investigations, civil process and cattle and ranch theft cases. Sgt. Harper started with the Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office in 1995 and spent more than half of his law enforcement career with the Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office. Sgt. Harper also served in Nueces and Live Oak.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donation be sent to the Bluntzer Volunteer Fire Department.
