William Tiffin Young, Jr., known as “Pops” by many, passed away on September 6, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. William Tiffin Young, Jr. was born on December 31, 1929 in Childress, Texas to William Tiffin Young and Gladys Cothrun Young. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1947. He owned and operated W.T. Young Construction from 1964 until his retirement December 31, 2005. He also owned Young Trucking and C.C. Crane. He was active for many years in the Beefmaster Breeders Association. He raised Beefmaster Cattle for many years. He and Virginia lived on their ranch in Bee County until January 2013. They moved back to Corpus Christi in January 2013 after he suffered a stroke. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; children, Irene Wills of Fort Worth, Texas, Shayne Schroeder of Mathis, Texas, Melanie Vassaur of Bishop, Texas, Tiffany Kendall of Coppell, Texas, Casey Schroeder of Brooklyn, New York; grandchildren, James Ward of Cornado, California, Lindsey Seidman of Virginia, Meaghan and Morgan Vassaur of Corpus Christi, Texas, Tanner Vassaur of Bishop. Texas, Wesley and Sally Schroeder of Corpus Christi, Texas, Katelyn, Carter and Beckett Kendall of Coppell, Texas; two great granddaughters of California; two sisters, Helen Crowder of Fort Worth, Texas and Treva Fike of Amarillo, Texas; brother, Glen Young of Robstown, Texas; several nieces and nephews and a host of many friends. Memorial Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 28, 2013 in the Chapel of Sawyer-George Funeral Home.
