Wilburn Gooch

Wilburn Rhudalph “Rudy” Gooch, age 81, of Robstown, Texas died January 22, 2016 after a long illness. Rudy was the son of Tolbert Johnson and Eula Demaris (Wilson) Gooch. He was born in McNairy County, Tennessee on November 1, 1934. He graduated from Selmer High School in 1953 and from Memphis State University in January 1958. After graduation, Rudy was employed by Braniff International Airlines for many years. He was subsequently employed by Brinks Home Security in Dallas, Texas until his retirement in 1999. Rudy was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Patsy Ann (Mooney) Whitford in May, 2014. He is survived by his brother, Bennie and Delores Gooch of Opelika, Alabama, his niece, Donna Alexander, his great niece, Rachael White (Bill), great great nephew, Alex White; and brother, Stanford and Linda Gooch of Bellevue, Nebraska and niece, Aimee Temple (Jason). Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 26 , 2016 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home . Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. with The Rev. Michelle Lott officiating. Mr. Gooch will be interred next to his wife at Seaside Memorial Cemetery, Corpus Christi, Texas.
