Vivian Meeker, 82, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 at her home after an illness. She was born August 29, 1930 in Hartford, Wisconsin to Ernest Hosterman and Vivian Gessner Uber Hosterman and moved to Kingsville, Texas upon graduating from high school where her brother and his wife lived to attend A & I University. After two years of college, she met and married Reece E. Meeker, Jr. Vivian worked for the State of Texas Welfare Department in central Texas while they lived in Luling, Texas, then in Nueces County when they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. After retiring, she was a Red Cross Volunteer at Spohn Hospital Shoreline surgery waiting for many years. She was a member of Brawner Parkway Church of Christ and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Henry Hosterman and her husband, Reece E. Meeker, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Rita Kay (John) Underwood of Weatherford, Texas and Jan Whiteley of Odem, Texas; her sister-in-law, Rachel Hosterman of Dousman, Wisconsin; her niece, Karen Ward and her nephews, John Hosterman and Richard Hosterman. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Seaside Memorial Park.
