Virgia Belle Tye passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014, with family by her side after a long illness. She was born on August 14, 1927, in Normangee, Texas. She moved to Corpus Christi in 1948, married Charles Dennis “Buster” Scott and raised three children. Her marriage to Charles ended in 1978 and she later married Hugh Hanson Tye. She loved gardening, canning vegetables, fishing, gambling, country-western dancing and raising her beloved German Shepherd dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Margaret Easley Tucker; three brothers – Calloway, Johnnie D and Alfred Tucker; two sisters – Elizabeth Tucker Maness and Willie Tucker Childress; her husband, Hugh Hanson Tye; and one great-great grandchild, Jayden Felts. She is survived by three children – Kenneth Scott, Carolyn Scott Kelley (Glen), and Margaret “Candy” Scott Ramsey (Tom); seven grandchildren – Steven Scott, Brandy Scott, Gary Knape Jr., Kendra Flores, Laura Kelley Reimer (Brent), Sky Hook, and Kristin Hook; ten great-grandchildren (plus one on the way), one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Gary Knape Jr. for taking care of his Grandmother during her last days at home, Steven Scott who would visit his Grandmother often and entertain her (which she really looked forward to), Michael McCluskey, who spent hours chatting and watching television with her, and Legacy Home Health & Hospice for caring for her during her last few months. Private services for the family will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at the Coastal Bend State Veteran’s Cemetery.
