Vernalyn Bradshaw, 88, passed away on September 18, 2019 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on February 1, 1931 in Kingsville, Texas to Vernet Byron Awbrey and Mary Lynn Lanfear Awbrey. She was an elementary school teacher in the Corpus Christi Independent School District and taught first grade at London School and had the joy of teaching her own children. Vernalyn retired from teaching in the public schools and taught many years at a local daycare before running her own home daycare. She loved gardening, especially flowers, camping, reading and family gatherings. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernet Byron and Mary Lynn Lanfear Awbrey. Vernalyn is survived by her husband, Claude Marshall Bradshaw, Jr.; daughters, Linda Carolyn Loyd (Randy), Fae Jean Faber (Marc) and Mary Kathryn Pennington (Chris); grandchildren, Robert Bevly (Amanda), Melinda Thompson (John), Alex Bevly (Cynthia), Michael Faber (Cecilia), Emily Faber and Chelsi Roach. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 12 noon until 1:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Patrick Hammack officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the Chamberlain Cemetery in Kingsville, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Sunny Glen Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1373, San Benito, Texas 78586.
