Toni Annette Davis

Toni Annette Davis passed after a sudden illness on January 19, 2025 at the age of 61 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Toni was born on January 11, 1964 to parents Billy Guy Gilleland and Ruth Powell Gilleland. Toni attended and graduated in 1982 from Tuloso-Midway High School where she lettered in basketball, band and track. She graduated cum laude from Texas A&M--Kingsville with Bachelor of Science in Education, followed by her Masters of Library Science from Sam Houston State University. Her final educational goal was her Guidance Counselors Certification which blessed countless students in San Angelo and Gregory-Portland schools.

Toni and Brent Davis married on June 25, 1999 and recently celebrated their 25th anniversary in June 2024. Toni is survived by her husband, Brent Davis of Portland; son Richard Davis and fiancée Brooke Boening of Portland, TX; Rileigh Davis of Austin, Texas; and Allie Davis of San Marcos, Texas. She is also survived by her mother, Laura Ruth Gilleland of Corpus Christi and sisters Kathryn Dowlearn of Bandera, Texas, Pam Gilleland of Corpus Christi, Texas, Billie Johnson and husband, Bill of Corpus Christi and Penny Sumner of Bandera, Texas. Toni is preceded in death by an infant sister, Violet Gilleland, foster sister, Margaret Gipson of Fort Worth, Texas, brothers-in-law Dale Dowlearn and Keith Williams, and most recently, her father-in-law Bobby Davis of Lubbock, Texas She was welcomed to Heaven by our earthly father, Bill Gilleland, both being the same age of 61 at their deaths.

Toni’s true happiness came from experiencing her children’s adventures and accomplishments. She was a Mother in every sense of the word, through the good times and the bad, and loved every moment of being “MOM”. Toni had served and attended Camp Bandina every summer since she was 6 months of age, over 60 years. She leaves behind countless shoes, beautiful home décor, her bubble gun, and her dogs, Dodger and Gigi.

Visitation will be held at Sawyer George Funeral Home, 12497 Leopard, Corpus Christi, Texas on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 5 PM-7 PM. A Celebration of Life is to be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Arlington Heights Church of Christ, 2722 Rand Morgan Rd, Corpus Christi, Texas @ 1 PM. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
