Tommy "Mickey" Jennings

Tommy Luther “Mickey” Jennings, age 84, died of complications associated with Covid-19 on July 12, 2020, in Corpus Christi, TX.

Mickey is survived by his wife, Lynda Addkison Jennings, of Robstown, TX; his son, Kevin Jennings, of Robstown; and his daughter, Ashley Jennings Seahorn, of Corpus Christi. In addition, he is survived by his grandsons, Dylan Giles and Taylor Jennings; granddaughter, Sloane Seahorn; as well as his sisters, Judy Lacy of Corpus Christi and Carolyn Wallace of Robstown; and a brother, Don Jennings of Corpus Christi.  He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.   He is preceded in death by his father, Luther Jennings and his mother, Neva Jennings, of Robstown.

Mickey was born on May 19, 1936 in Robstown, TX, to parents Luther and Neva Jennings. He graduated from Robstown High School in 1955, and Texas A&I University, Kingsville in 1959 with a degree in Business Administration. In addition, he graduated from the Preston Road School of Preaching in Dallas in 1969.  Mickey retired from the Texas Department of Human Services as a Nursing Home Case Worker in 1996 after 22 years of service.  Mickey served as a “fill-in” preacher whenever he was needed and preached in the Dallas area, the Rio Grande Valley and all around the Coastal Bend.

Mickey was a family man and a loving father. He married Lynda Addkison in 1966 and the couple had 2 children together. Mickey and Lynda resided in Robstown for most of their 54 years of marriage.

Mickey was involved in his church family his entire life. He was a long-time member of the Arlington Heights church of Christ. Mickey loved studying and discussing the Bible, and spending time with his family. He was quite a character and is often remembered for his not so skilled singing during his sermons and his use of poems and antidotes that always brought a smile to people’s faces. Once, when asked what his advice to pass on would be, he responded with “Do as much as you can, for as many as you can, for as long as you can.”  Mickey truly lived by this motto and his family and friends will always remember him as a jovial, giving and compassionate person.

Due to the present circumstances no public services are currently scheduled. Although unconventional, the family invites all who knew Mickey to celebrate his larger than life personality by sharing antidotes or memories of him. In lieu of flowers, Mickey had expressed that donations be made to organizations that provide food for those in need.
