Thomas “Tom” Madison Robinson, 80, passed away after a long struggle with declining health on November 3, 2017. Tom was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas on June 2nd, 1937 to David Alonzo and Estell Rowell Robinson, one of five children born to their union. After his father’s death Tom and several siblings went to live at a Masonic Home in Fort Worth. He remained a proud “Sonic” throughout his life. He married Sandra Le Hendrix Hoch on August 31, 1996. Tom built a career of public service in the DFW metroplex, then retired with Sandra to their ranch near Freer. He was a proud 33rd degree member of the Masonic Lodge and the Dallas Scottish Rite, as well as the South Texas Trail Riders Association. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Georgia Creacy; son, Carl Alan Robinson. In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by four daughters; Cindy (Danny) Dreier of Fort Worth; Teresa (Tim) Sanders of Crowley, Texas; Lisa (Jay) Fleming of Goliad, Texas and Martha (Henry) Rivera of Joshua, Texas. Also 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; sisters, Wanda Eaton and Martha (Ezra) Layell of North Carolina; brother, David (Glenna) Robinson of Sulphur Springs, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jay Fleming of First Baptist Church in Goliad officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown, Texas.
