Thomas “Tommy”

Thomas M. Bernsen “Tommy”, 84, of Robstown, Texas went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Tommy was born July 1, 1932 in Violet, Texas to W. T. and Katherine Bernsen. He was married to his loving wife, Delores (Hill) on November 22, 1954, whom he spent 62 wonderful years with. Tommy served in the U.S. Army from 1952 – 1954, was a lifetime farmer in Nueces County, a founding member of the Violet Water Corporation and an active member of the VFW Post 7841 where he held various officer positions. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, W. T. and Katherine Bernsen, sons, Tommy Bernsen and Jim Bernsen, and grandsons, Scotty Hennigan and David Moore. He is survived by his wife, Delores Bernsen; children, Janet (Blaine) Hennigan of Caldwell, Robert (Leslie) Bernsen of San Antonio, Judy (Olan) Moore of Corpus Christi and daughter-in-law, Toni Bernsen of Robstown. Tommy leaves behind 9 grandchildren; James (Denise) Bernsen of Lexington, KY, Melanie (Brian) Cunningham of San Antonio, Kenny (Joy) Hennigan of Katy, Jessica Moore of Corpus Christi, Kimberly Bernsen of San Antonio, Jennifer Hennigan of Austin, Charles (Andrea) Bernsen of Hurst, Julie Moore of Corpus Christi and Clare Bernsen of Robstown. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, Erin Cunningham, Kaya Bernsen, Emma Hennigan, Lynnlee Bernsen and Benjamin Hennigan. Visitation will be from 5 PM until 7 PM with a Rosary to be recited at 7 PM Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Monday, April 24, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Violet, Texas. Burial will follow in the St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
