Sister Consuelo Flores Zamora, a Pax Christi Sister at the age of 88 was called by the Heavenly Father Wednesday, October 19, 2016 in Corpus Christi, TX. Our Dear Sister Consuelo has gone to be with Jesus in the heavenly glory after a beautiful service to the Lord and fruitful life. Sister Consuelo Flores Zamora baptized Hermelinda was born April 29, 1928 in Parras, Coahuila, Mexico. She felt a strong desire to serve God and at the age of 15 she joined the Sisters, Servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and of the Poor in Mexico. In November 3rd, 1968 Sister Consuelo received a second call from God, to collaborate with Mother Teresa Santoyo to begin the new Religious community of the Pax Christi Sisters in Corpus Christi, Texas. Sister Consuelo, during her 70 years in Religious Life, served the poorest and neediest in orphanages in Mexico, Laredo and Residence for Girls in Corpus Christi, Texas. Also, she was a Mistress of Novices and Postulants as well as evangelization ministry and pastoral work in Queretaro, Mexico. Sister Consuelo was a very humble, caring and loving Sister. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist and the long hours she spent in adoration before the tabernacle were the heart of her prayer life and contemplation. She burned with tender love for the Lord and our Blessed Mother Mary and lived solely for the service of God's Kingdom. She will be dearly will be missed in our Pax Christi Community, but her memories and exemplary life will remain in our hearts. May she rest in Peace! Sister Consuelo is preceded in death by her mother and father Jesus Flores and Gregoria Zamora, and her brothers and sisters Margarita, Ignacio and Francisco Flores Zamora. She is survived by her sisters Maria Antonia, Maria Ignacia, and Jesus Flores Zamora and her niece Maria Concepción Fuantos, M.D. and many other nieces and nephews in Mexico. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Pax Christi Sisters Chapel, 4601 Calallen Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Pax Christi Sisters Chapel . Interment will follow at Seaside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pax Christi Chapel. The Pax Christi Sisters wish to extend their gratitude and thanks to the many who have shown such warm and love throughout the years. Especially to those who tended Sister Consuelo illness, doctors, nurses, caregivers and Angel Bright Hospice Staff. Thank you for the many outpouring of sympathy, acts of kindness, prayer and spiritual support and thoughts during this difficult time for the Sisters. Your thoughtfulness is very much appreciated.
