Sheron Dianne Crossland Bickham, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior September 2, 2021. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on December 20, 1943, to John Crossland and Christine Stubbs Crossland. As an only child, Sheron developed a love of animals. Growing up in Louisiana and Texas, she loved playing outdoors and being involved in sports and activities. Sheron graduated from Atlanta High School in 1961. She had a talent for helping others that lent itself to her career in the sales and catering industry. She truly enjoyed planning weddings and events at the Hilton in Corpus Christi. At age 24, Sheron wed the love of her life, Johnnie Alton Bickham. They celebrated 53 wonderful years together. Sheron and Johnnie raised 3 children, Brigette Colette Bickham Filla (Jimmy), Lisa Michelle Bickham Crossland (David), and John Steven Bickham (Julie). She loved and adored her eight precious grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as Nonnie, David Tyler Crossland (Clara), Victoria Crossland, Mary Crossland, Nathanael Crossland, James Dylan Filla, Alexa Colette Filla, Brynn Bickham, and Cody Bickham. Sheron was blessed to meet her first great grandchild, Juliet Crossland.
She was a compassionate and fierce protector of those she loved. Sheron channeled her love of children and animals into worthy causes. She was a CASA volunteer (Court Appointed Special Advocate), Stephens Ministry member, and a rescuer of numerous dogs and cats.
Sheron dearly loved her husband and was proud to be a devoted wife, who loved to cook and spoil her family. She adored watching all her kids and grandkids pursue their passions in sports, music, performance, dance, and various activities. She was proud when her kids and grandkids were successful and compassionate when they fell short.
Sheron was known for her infectious smile, sparkling blue eyes, that lit up any room, and her glamourous style and beauty; however, her true light was her beautiful heart and her selfless, steadfast commitment to helping anyone or any creature in need. When remembering Sheron, her feisty spirit, love of family, and flare for fashion and getting made-up for even ordinary/daily life will stay with us and inspire us to speak and act for others and live life to the fullest.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, John and Christine Crossland and an infant son. Sheron is survived by her cousins Phyllis Robinett (Charles) and Donna Powell.
