Sheridan “Judge” Corbin Lewis, III, was born in Orange, California, September 6, 1946 to Marguerite Carter Lewis and Sheridan C. Lewis, Jr. His grandfather was S. C. Lewis, Sr., owner of Southern Community Gas Company in Corpus Christi and a major contributor to the Boys Club of Corpus Christi. He graduated in 1964 from Robstown High School where he was a member of the golf team. The summer after graduation, he and a friend traveled throughout the state of Texas in his 1963 Corvette. Sheridan graduated from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) in May, 1969 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army in the officer’s candidate program and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant at Fort Benning, Georgia. His first tour of duty was at Fort Bliss, Texas and Fort Clayton, Panama Canal Zone. He served a tour at Stanton Army Airfield, South Korea as a missile officer in charge of training Republic of Korea officers. At this time he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant. Sheridan served his final tour of duty at Fort Ord, California in charge of the Sixth Army Rifle matches. His reserve rank was Captain. Upon his return to Texas, Sheridan worked for The Western Company as a cementer and management intern. In 1974, he joined a division of B. J. Hughes Tool Company as an offshore cementer working from Aberdeen, Scotland. While with Hughes Oil, he held other positions, which allowed him to travel abroad extensively. Transferring back to Houston in 1987, he remained with divisions of Hughes Tool until 1990 when he went to work for NowCam, a division of CamCo Oil Field Service Company. During the years he spent abroad, Lewis made sales trips to all the Soviet Bloc countries and the Middle East. In 1995, Sheridan joined Mico, Inc., where he worked until his retirement in 2011. Sheridan returned to his hometown of Corpus Christi, where he loved fishing, boating, and traveling throughout the Caribbean and Mexico. He loved cars, especially vintage Jaguars. Sheridan was a member of Parkdale Baptist Church. Sheridan had an intense love for family, friends, and always greeted people with a smile. Sheridan was preceded in death by his parents, Marguerite “Margie” Lewis and Sheridan C. Lewis, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Pamala Lewis. He is also survived by his children, Sheridan “Chip” C. Lewis, IV and wife, Natalie of Winder, Georgia and Samuel Fox Lewis of Corpus Christi, Texas. Sheridan is also survived by his sisters, Lisa Mitchell of Corpus Christi, Texas and Michelle Laird and husband, Jimmy, of Fredericksburg, Texas. He is also survived by his step-children, Christina Smith, Lacey Flores and husband, Daniel, Aimee Smith all of Austin, Texas, and Jonathan Smith and wife, Rebecca, of Houston, Texas. Sheridan is also survived by eight grandchildren, Caitlyn, Alyssa, Sofia, Presley, Bridget, Greyson, Ryan and Blake. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 7 P.M. with the family present from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie D. Watson officiating. Graveside funeral services with full military honors will be conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkdale Baptist Church Memorial Fund in memory of Sheridan C. Lewis, III.
