On August 1, 2021, our beloved Dad and Granddad, R.V. Wagner, 87, went to his heavenly home. R.V. was born to Solomon and Ethel Mae Wagner in Blanco, Texas on October 17, 1933. Raised in Blanco in his younger years, R.V. was asked by his brother Raymond Wagner to come to Corpus Christi to work. Here in Corpus is where he met the love of his life, Henrietta Marie Bippert from Ricardo, Texas. For 66 years of marriage, R.V. and Henrietta shared their lives with 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Growing up in Blanco, R.V. was one of 10 kids. He worked for his daddy building fences and later worked at the Blanco Locker Plant before moving to Corpus Christi. R.V. settled his family here while building the roads in South Texas with Dellinger and Mahan Construction then later with South Texas Construction, Redland-Worth, Redland-Stone, and finally Martin Marietta. He retired at the age of 75 after 57 years of building roads and producing base material for South Texas highways. During retirement, R.V. and Henrietta both tagged along with their son Robert Wagner during cotton harvesting. R.V. was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer in his spare time. He shared his love for all three of these sports with his family. In retirement, golf was his favorite. R.V. won several tournaments with his long drives and accurate putts. He even accomplished two holes-in-one. Four of his five grandchildren played golf in high school, but the entire family played. Granddad and Grandmom supported their children and grandchildren by attending golf tournaments, football games, basketball games, and volleyball games, band competitions, livestock shows along with high school/college graduations. Besides sports, R.V. loved to country western dance with Henrietta. He also was an excellent dominoes 42 player and billards (pool) player. R.V. was loved by many family members and friends. He was baptized at Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church where he practiced his religion faithfully by attending church regularly. He is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Melvin and Zeffie Burris, and an infant brother, 6 sisters and 2 brothers, Cornelia (Wayne) Lindeman, Jake (Leon) Kruckemeyer, AJ Wagner, Grace (Sammy) Flugrath, Raymond (Imogene) Wagner, Bertha (Melvin) Page, and Yvonne (Kenneth) Triesch.
