Ruth Berryman

Ruth Johnson Berryman, 106, of Robstown, Texas, passed away on January 4, 2016. Ruth Berryman was born on December 26, 1909, in the town of Allen's Chapel, Fannin County, Texas. She was married to B.D. Berryman, President of Robstown Savings & Loan and the Mayor of Robstown, Texas for more than 25 years. B.D. fought in World War II in the Army Infantry and was a decorated veteran of the war. Ruth Berryman taught school at her home in Robstown, Texas as a kindergarten teacher for many years, teaching more than one thousand students. She loved traveling to other countries, playing bridge with her friends, and looking after her family. Ruth Berryman was predeceased by her husband B.D. Berryman, and her six siblings, Mary, Claude, Helen, Myrna, Ned, and Teddy. She is survived by her son, G. Phil Berryman; her daughter-in-law, Sharon T. Berryman; her grandchildren, P. Brian (Lynn) Berryman, B. Dan (Alissa) Berryman, and Julie D. Berryman; and her great-grandchildren, Sam Berryman, Lance Berryman, Abby Berryman, and Josh Berryman; along with many other beloved family members. Ruth Berryman’s memorial services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016 in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel.
