Ruby Lee Toomes entered the gates of Heaven on December 5, 2017 surrounded by the love and support of her family. Her life began with her birth on July 31, 1937 in Fulton, Missouri to the late Luther and Ora Davis. She met the love of her life while working as a carhop at a drive-in. Ruby and Harold later married on July 2, 1955. She worked as a beautician for many years and owned Ruby's Shear Design Salon until she put down her shears to enjoy retirement. Ruby was a long time active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. She was an exemplary example of pure elegance and grace. Ruby had a beautiful heart and soul and will be greatly missed by many. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and love her. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Joe) Beard; son, Dale (Connie) Toomes; grandchildren, Amber, Ryan (Janette), and Megan Beard, Ashley (Santos) Sanchez and Austin Toomes; great grandchildren, Madison and Rylee Beard, Jaxon Sanchez; sisters, Katie M. Tenney, Helen (Raymond) French. Ruby was greeted in Heaven by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Harold Toomes. Visitation with the family present will be from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Monday, December 11, 2017 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Canon Beverly Patton and The Rev. Richard Speer officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in memory of Ruby.
