Ruby Brubaker-Blackmon

Ruby Brubaker-Blackmon was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven by her Lord Jesus Christ on the evening of May 19th after a valiant fight against pancreatic cancer. She was born Ruby Mae Clark on April 19, 1929 on the Allred Ranch in Llano County, Texas, the fifth of six daughters born to Robert Clark and Lucille Clark (nee Ulmer). She and her family then moved to the Dobie Ranch, near Lagarto, Texas, where she spent what she described as a "magical childhood filled with fun and adventure". She moved to Rockport, Texas at the age of sixteen and later graduated from Rockport Fulton High School in 1947. While in Rockport she served as a volunteer Coast Watcher and Airplane Spotter during WWII. She was a resident of Corpus Christi from the age of twenty until her death. She worked as a comptroller in the Oil and Gas Exploration and the Aviation Industries, prior to her retirement. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ, an avid outdoorsman and golf fan, being quite accomplished with a rod and reel and shotgun. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and the father of her three sons, Stanley Lee Brubaker and her second husband, James Wade Blackmon, her five sisters, Juanita, Vera, Winnie, Christine and Helen. She is survived by her sons, Stanley Lee Brubaker Jr. (Kimberlee), Douglas Mark Brubaker (Bobbie) and Gayland Wayne Brubaker (Janet), six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 1:00pm at Seaside Memorial Park.
