Roy Gillespie, 91, of Robstown, Texas, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013. Roy was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII serving in North Africa and the Italian Campaign. He retired from the Robstown Post Office after over 50 years of service. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was a member of the Robstown Lodge No. 1062, A.F.&A.M. where he served as their secretary for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Gillespie and two sisters, Cherry Gillespie and Melba Clarkson. He is survived by his daughter, Zandy (Tom) Benefield of Corpus Christi, Texas; his son, Richard Gillespie of Robstown, Texas; his granddaughter, Christie (James) Batey of Corpus Christi, Texas; his sister, Dotty Carter of Corpus Christi, Texas; his brother, Victor Gillespie of Corpus Christi, Texas; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. until service time. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Stan Whites and The Rev. Vanessa LeVine officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in Robstown Memorial Park under the auspices of Robstown Lodge No. 1062, A.F.&A.M.
