Rose Mary Valdez

January 2, 1972 — December 25, 2024

Corpus Christi

Rose Mary Valdez, born on January 2, 1972, she graced this world with her warmth and vibrant spirit until her untimely departure on December 25, 2024. A devoted mother and cherished wife, Rose was a beacon of light in the lives of many, most notably as an adoring spouse to Nathan Valdez. Their love, woven through the fabric of family gatherings and collective laughter, was palpable and enduring.

Raised in the close-knit embrace of her family, Rose attended West Oso High School in 1990, where the foundations of her gentle character were built. As a dedicated employee of the State of Texas for over 13 years, she approached her work with the same passion and commitment that defined every facet of her life. A member of New Life Church, her faith underscored her daily interactions with others, enriching her relationships and nurturing those around her.

Her life’s greatest joy, however, sprang from the cherished moments spent with her grandchildren—D'Andrea, Ian, and Josiah. Each giggle and gleeful shout resonated in her heart, filling it with a profound happiness that only a grandmother could know. Rose took immense pride in her role as a grandmother, embracing each opportunity to create lasting memories through cooking meals that brought her family together and hosting gatherings filled with love and laughter.

Rose was a beloved daughter to Maria Longoria, and sister to Virginia, Angelica, Frances, Roxanne, and JoAnn. Each sibling shared in this great love, and many nieces and nephews found comfort and affection in her nurturing presence. Her family was not merely a group of individuals—they were the essence of her being, the pulse of her life.

Though Rose now joins those who have departed, including her late aunt Manuela Montoya and Francisco (Meco) Villarreal Jr., the love she instilled in her family and friends remains eternally etched into their hearts. As we gather to honor her life and memory, we invite all who knew her to partake in remembering the joys she spread and the love she cultivated.

Visitation will take place on January 2, 2025, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at Sawyer-George Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas, creating a space for reflection on a life so richly lived. Although Rose is no longer with us in body, her spirit will continue to shine brightly, illuminating the lives of those fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
