Rosa Irene Quick Haines, age 93 of Odem and formerly of Vanderbilt, Texas, passed away on January 9, 2016 in Corpus Christi. Rosa was born on November 8, 1922 to Clara Myrtle and Floyd Somers Quick in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. She was married to Jackie Leo Haines and celebrated 70 years of marriage before his death in 2012. Survivors include daughters: Donna (Art) Eckman of Atlanta, GA and Carole (Jim) Kolle of Inez, Texas; sons: David (Johnnie) of Cypress, Texas, Randy (Shelley) of Calallen, Texas and John of Corpus Christi, and a very special adopted family, Senay (Clarence) Payne of Romayor, Texas. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, an infant son, and a daughter-in-law. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, she was loved by so many for her selfless acts and generosity to others. She was known for her excellence in the kitchen and anyone who was invited to her table was truly blessed. She was dedicated to serving the Lord at the First Baptist Church of Odem, where she taught the Ruth Sunday School Class for many years. She was employed in Vanderbilt by the Jackson County Water District and after moving to Odem, worked in the Odem-Edroy ISD administration office. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Sawyer-George Funeral Home, 12497 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church, 307 West Turner Street, Odem Texas. Burial will be at Odem Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons Shane, Barret and Clay Kolle, Jeremy and Jordan Haines, Brandon Guthrie and Joshua Haines and great-grandson Noah Kolle. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters Christine Eckman and Kara Eckman Mecke, Kimber-Lea Wiggins and Camryn Haines. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at TRISUN River Ridge Care Center for the care given to our loved one. Their compassion and professionalism is greatly appreciated and will be forever remembered.
