Robert Lacy, Sr.

Robert T. “Bob” Lacy, Sr., passed away Thursday, July13, 2017 at his home in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born September 16, 1926 in Sulphur, Louisiana to I. L. Lacy and Virginia Austin Lacy. He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1943. He volunteered and went into the U. S. Army Air Corp in 1945 serving in the Occupation Forces in Japan. Upon his return, he attended Louisiana State University. He was employed by Sulphur Motor Company Ford dealership in September of 1948 as a parts clerk. He continued there until he was General Manager. He moved to Orange, Texas in 1961 and was employed by Wickersham Ford as General Manager. He moved to Robstown, Texas in 1971 buying in with D. C. Rachel Ford. In 1979, he purchased the controlling interest and changed the name to Bob Lacy Ford, Inc.. In March, 2000, he relocated his Ford Dealership to Corpus Christi, Texas, in the Calallen – 5 Points Area, which was later sold and is now known as Access Ford. He had a total of 53 years associated with Ford Motor Company. Over the years he served on numerous boards and was very involved in the community. He had a full life, of love, family and so very many friends and wonderful traveling experiences. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Judy Sue; his children, Steve Lacy and wife Gayle of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Bob Lacy, Jr. and wife Janet of Portland, Texas Virginia Lacy and husband Duane Brown, of Brazoria, Texas; grandchildren, Kevin (Jessica) and Kerry (Blake) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Bob Lacy III of Portland, Texas and Jaclyn Hutchins ( Danny) of San Antonio, Texas; great grandchildren, Angelle, Leighton, Michael Blake and Remy. In addition, he loved spending time with Judy’s extended family. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, July 17, 2017 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Mickey Jennings officiating. Graveside services with full military honors will be conducted at a later date at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity in his memory. Bob invites all his family, friends and previous customers to come visit him in his new location, UPSTAIRS!
