Robert “Bob” Fleming, 78, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015. He was born November 11, 1937 in Freer, Texas. Bob was a police officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department starting in 1959. In 1961 he was drafted in to the U. S. Army where he served for two years, and then in 1963 returned to the CCPD. In 1966 he entered Del Mar College and then graduated from Texas A&I University in 1969 Magna Cum Laude with a Chemical Engineering degree. In January of 1970 he went to work for Suntide as a process engineer and later organized and was the manager of the Human Resources Department. He progressed to be the manager of plant operations and retired in November of 1993. He was preceded in death by his mother, Esta. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Glenda Fleming; his son, Robert “Bob” Fleming; his sister, Sue (Wayne) Cross; his brother, William “Bill” Fleming; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Wendy Hardcastle; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin 1 hour before the funeral. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Dale and Roxie Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in the Sinton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carl Hardcastle, Brent DeLay, Henry Garrett, Travis Hardcastle, Jody Martinez and Gordon Zabel. Honorary pallbearers will be Poncho Vickery and Craig Cavitt. The family would like to especially thank the staff and nurses of New Century Hospice for their kind and loving care of Bob in his last days.
