Robert Evans

Robert (Bob) Lee Evans, 86, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on March 26, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on January 10, 1928 in El Dorado, Kansas to Lorn and Marie Evans. He grew up in north central Kansas and there met Vesta Barnum of Glasco, Kansas. They were married June 6, 1948 shortly after Bob completed his military service in the United States Navy. Bob and Vesta moved to South Texas in 1952 while he was working for Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America. He retired in 1986 after 36 years of service. They then moved to a retirement village in Bella Vista, Arkansas where Bob was an avid golfer and gardener. He and Vesta enjoyed lots of traveling in their motor home and overseas. In 2009 they moved to Corpus Christi to be near family. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, and his passion was his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was actively involved with his 3 sons in boy scouting and sports activities in their youth. Bob was a strong Christian man and member of Grace United Methodist Church of Corpus Christi. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vesta: his daughter, Kathy Koch of San Antonio, Texas: and his sons, Mark (Rita) Evans of Portland, Texas, Marty (Carol) Evans and David (Peggy) Evans of Corpus Christi, Texas: nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Don Evans of San Diego, California. The family would like to thank Girling Hospice, and especially hospice nurse Bethany Wanoreck for their care and comfort during Bob’s final days. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church located at 14521 Northwest Boulevard. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 14521 Northwest Boulevard, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410. A private burial will be held at a later date.
