Richard F. Elzner, on July 14, 2010, lost his courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 10, 1942 to Emil and Adella Elzner. He graduated from West Oso High School in 1960. He then proudly served his country in the U. S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was also a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #185. He was employed by Equistar for 27 years. He loved to hunt and fish and especially loved going to his sister and brother-in-law’s ranch in San Diego. He is preceded in death by his father, Emil Elzner; his brother, Larry Elzner; and sister, Kathleen Elzner Featherson. He is survived by his mother, Adella Simcik Elzner; aunts, Ella Simcik and Albertina Oakes all of Corpus Christi, Texas. He is also survived by his wife of 38 years, Beverly Dove Elzner; his daughters, Dawn (Ben) Beadles of San Antonio, Texas, Emily (Aaron) Benick of Buckeye, Arizona and Mary Elzner of Corpus Christi, Texas; his three grandsons, Declan Beadles, Ryan and Corey Benick; his brothers, Jim (Irma) Elzner, Dennis (Nancy) Elzner and Leonard (Susan) Elzner all of Corpus Christi, Texas; his sisters, Linda (Cliff) Long of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, Rebecca (Dan Jackson) Elzner of Corpus Christi, Texas; sister-in-law, Beth (Rod) Lamberth of Deer Park, Texas; seven nieces and six nephews; four great nieces and three great nephews; and a host of cousins and good friends. Visitation will be from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. with the Rosary to be recited at 7 P.M. Friday, July 16, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Seaside Memorial Park. Special thanks to the caregivers at Legacy for making Richard’s last month comfortable for him.
