Richard Darren French, 54, of Orange Grove, Texas, passed away on January 28, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on February 2, 1970, in Corpus Christi, Darren was the cherished son of Tommy and Marlene French.
Darren spent his formative years in Orange Grove, Texas, where he graduated from high school. In 1994, he married Kimberley Culpepper, and together they recently celebrated 30 years of marriage. Darren was a devoted husband and a proud father to their three children Ethan, Caleb, and Kiley. From football and volleyball games to livestock shows he was their biggest cheerleader. He took great pride in their achievements, including their recent graduations from Texas A&M University in December.
For 35 years, Darren worked as an inspector in the oil and gas industry. Known for his strong values and quick wit, he was respected and well-liked by all who knew him. Darren never met a stranger. Darren had a love for travel and was an enthusiastic supporter of Aggie football, basketball, and baseball.
A man of faith and service, Darren was an active member of the Mathis church of Christ. He led singing at services and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Whether preparing a King Ranch casserole or barbecuing for someone in need, Darren embodied kindness and generosity.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberley; his children, Ethan, Caleb, and Kiley; his parents, Tommy and Marlene French; his sister, Melanie (David) Romero; nephew, Tyler (Alyssa) Proctor; niece, Brooke Proctor; his brother, Thomas Marlin (Melissa) French; nephews, Luke and Levi; niece, Ruthie; his father- and mother-in-law, Donald and Vanda Culpepper; sister-in-law, Donna (Scott) Maples; and nephew, Hayden Schonhoeft. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marlin and Jaunita Gibson and Thomas Watson Sr. and Golden Ruby O'Neill-French, as well as his cousin, Raymond Gibson.
Darren’s warmth, humor, and selflessness will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those he touched.
