Rev. Mack Floyd Caffey, age 85, joined his Lord on March 27, 2018. He was known to his many friends as “Bro. Mack” and his family as Daddy, PawPaw, GGPawPaw and Uncle Mack. Although his ministry took him to numerous different places, he spent the majority of his life in Corpus Christi, Texas. He touched many lives and was dearly loved by family and friends. His kind and gentle spirit soothed many a troubled soul and his sparkling eyes and infectious laughter brought joy to those around him. His love for the Lord was evident in every relationship he had. He married the love of his life, Ann Elizabeth, on June 1, 1954, and they shared 63 years together. She was his soul mate, his confidant, and his best friend as he was hers. He has four children, Mary Beth Caffey, Elaine (Scott) Lisenbe, Nancy (Keith Lovins) Cavitt, and Larry (Michelle) Caffey. He has five grandchildren, Candice (Kyle) Tillman, Colby (Julianne Salinas) Cavitt, Chelsea Cavitt, Caitlin Cavitt, and Madison Caffey. He has three great grandchildren, Axel Tillman, Norah Tillman, and Clifford Mack Cavitt. He was the last of his family being preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Corene Caffey and his four siblings, Rosa Lee Lansford, George L. Caffey, Faye Barley, and his twin brother, Mart Caffey. He is survived and loved dearly by a large extended family. He started pastoring when he was 17 years old and has continued to serve the Lord in whatever capacity was available whether it was preaching, teaching, or playing musical instruments. He was in the active ministry of the Lord for at least 60 years. He ministered to souls from Oklahoma to Mexico. He was fluent in and preached many sermons in Spanish. Even at 85 years of age, he was serving as the organist at Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church. We will remember him as a man who loved the Lord with all his heart and spent a lifetime ministering to those around him. He loved his family unconditionally and will be sorely missed. Visitation will be held from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, March 30, 2018 at Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church. His beloved pastor, Rev. John McAllister, pastor of Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church, was chosen by him to officiate. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Barley, Doug Caffey, Scott Cornett, Larry Jim Cornett, Don Lanmon and Jeff Spoor. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Glen Kost, Hubert Hall, Bob Bowers, Jim Cherry, Boyd Tyndall, R. V. Wagner, Grady Isensee, Robert Arriaga and Mickey Johnson.
