Raymond Guilford Rix Jr., a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. He was seventy-six. Born in Kenedy, Texas to Raymond and Joye Rix, Gil graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1966. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from Texas A&I University in 1972. Gil married his high school sweetheart, Mary “Sissy” Lee. They were together for more than 58 years and settled in the Robstown / Corpus Christi area in the early 1980’s.
After more than 40 years in the agriculture business working with farmers and ranchers across South Texas, he spent his retirement years with family and close friends. Gil and Sissy warmly welcomed visitors on a regular basis and thoroughly enjoyed traveling to visit loved ones, including their annual trip with college friends and families to Concan, Texas. Gil enjoyed fishing, hunting, attending stock shows, and could be seen — and heard — at events for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gil loved his church family and was an active member in the Baptist church. He and Sissy taught Sunday school for more than 30 years.
Gil is preceded in death by his father Raymond Rix, Sr.
Gil is survived by his mother Joye Rix; wife Sissy Lee Rix; son Randy (Kaye) Rix; daughter Rebecca (Jeston) Dumas; sister Ruth (Mike) Mills along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
