ROBSTOWN – Rance Lee Vaughan, loving husband and father was called home to our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Rance was born on August 26, 1948 in Austin, Texas to James Walker and Muriel Luedtke Vaughan. In his youth, Rance spent most of his time fishing, hunting, and caring for animals on his family's farm where his little sister Marlett was his constant shadow. Rance was active in the Travis County 4-H Club, the Bell Boyd Chapter of the Children of the Confederacy, and achieved the esteemed rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1966. Following high school, Rance went to the University of Texas - El Paso, where he played football and graduated with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. His professional career included working for El Paso Electric and CPL-Corpus Christi before starting his own company, Vaughan Construction. Rance was most at home tinkering in his workshop or working on construction projects, but he always made time to play golf, fish, or hunt with his buddies. While attending his sister's graduation party at Texas A&I, Rance met the love of his life for 42 years - Karen Rose Prukop. They were married in 1975 and the second love of his life, Breanne Nicole, arrived in 1987. Rance is preceded in death by his parents, James Walker and Muriel Luedtke Vaughan and his in-laws, Philip and Proxey Prukop. He is survived by his wife, Karen Prukop Vaughan, his daughter Breanne of McKinney, TX, his sister Marlett (David Bahn) of Kingsville, TX, and many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 5 to 7pm with the Holy Rosary to follow at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 16602 FM 624. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 10am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Graveside service to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery on FM 1889. Pallbearers are his nephews: James Kraatz, Matthew Lackey, Philip Prukop, Trevor Prukop, Justin Prukop, Randy Prukop, Mitch Rando, and Matt Rando. Honorary pallbearers are: David Bahn, Bill Middagh, David Olney, Frank Prukop, James Prukop, John Prukop, Ted Prukop, and Preston Smith. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Texas Wildlife Association - Youth Hunting Program or the American Heart Association.
