Pilar “Pete” D. Flores, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 2, 2010. He was born on December 16, 1941, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a Christian and long-time member of Primera Iglesia Bautista in Corpus Christi. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf and was a member of River Hills Country Club. Pete graduated from Del Mar College and received a Masters of Science Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Corpus Christi State University. After 38 years of service, he retired from Del Mar College as Technology Education Chair and Professor of Electronics. Pete served on various state and local educational committees and was recognized by the Del Mar College Former Students’ Association as a distinguished former student and was inducted into the 2008 Wall of Honor. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Natalie Jo Flores and his parents, Isidoro and Adela Flores. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Berta Ochoa Flores of Corpus Christi, Texas; his sons, Pilar Pete Flores of Dallas, Texas and Michael Anthony (Jamie) Flores of Plano, Texas; his grandchildren, Christopher and Rachel Flores of Plano, Texas; one sister, Adela Posey of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers, Isidoro Flores, Jr. of Garland, Texas, Johnny Flores of Houston, Texas and Paul Flores of Reno, Nevada; numerous other relatives. Visitation will begin at 10 A.M. with a Prayer Service to be conducted at 7 P.M. on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel, 12497 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Primera Iglesia Bautista, 1509 Tarlton Street, Corpus Christi, Texas, with Pastor Roland DeLeon officiating. Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park. Those, who wish, may make contributions to the Missionary Fund at Primera Iglesia Bautista, 1509 Tarlton Street, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415.
