Peggy A. McCoy Powell passed away peacefully June 12, 2022 with her loving family by her side. She was born at home August 26, 1942 in Banquete, Texas to Richard Hix McCoy and Doris McCoy. Peggy retired after 30 years as VP and Comptroller to a predominant distribution company in Corpus Christi. She was a selfless, loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She met her husband Roger E. Powell and married in 1967 at the First Baptist church in Corpus Christi. Peggy loved to sew and work in her yard, but her greatest joy was spending time with her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also loved antiques and collecting carnival glass with her husband.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Barr, brother Ernest Kohler (Herky). She is survived by her adoring husband Roger of 57 years, her daughter Tamara Chadwick (Josh) of Orange Grove, Tx, four grandchildren, Myranda Kelley (Ross) of Orange Grove, Tx., Hayden Johnson (Christina) of Robstown, Tx., Jaxon Hix Chadwick of Orange Grove, Tx. Draigon Silvas (Layla) of Refugio, Tx. four great grandchildren, Kinley Johnson, Baby Draigon Silvas, Keegan Kelley, and Kailey Johnson, her dear brother Michael Kohler (Brenda), a special cousin Carol Brown (Tommy), and numerous nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the Trinity Hospice staff for their loving and compassionate care during such a difficult time. Karen Kilbourn-Gutierrez, Lane Kilbourn, and Lorena Gonzalez.

Peggy will be dearly missed by all her friends and family. A memorial service will be held July 1, 2022, at 10:00am at Sawyer George funeral home in Calallen.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s association in memory of Peggy A. McCoy Powell.
