Pedro "Pete" Lopez Hernandez

Pedro “Pete” Lopez Hernandez (68), passed away January 22, 2022 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born in Valle Hermosa, Mexico on September 10, 1953 to Basilio and Josefa Hernandez.

Pete is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Olga H. Ruiz.

He is survived by Rose Candela Hernandez; his children, Pedro C. Hernandez, Nuemi H. Garcia(Daniel), Elexys C. Hernandez(Melissa), David Lee Hernandez(Mandy), Ely C. Hernandez (Jacquelline); numerous grandchildren; siblings, Remigio Hernandez, Basilio Hernandez Jr., Ricardo Hernandez, Maria Ybarra, San Juana Buentello; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pete was a devoted father to his children. He enjoyed several activities with his boys. He coached baseball and loved taking his children on various trips. Besides spending time with his family, he had a passion for attending sporting events. He touched many lives with his love for others. He was stationed in Fort Ord, California where he served six years in the United States Army. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
Visitation will be Monday, January 31, 2022 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home from 1pm-7pm. The Rosary will be recited at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 10:00AM followed by interment at Coastal Bend State Veteran's Cemetery at 1:00PM.
