Our wonderful mother, Pearl Loessin Cox was born October 16, 1920 in Winnsboro, Louisiana. She completed her earthly journey on July 15, 2010 and went to her heavenly home. Pearl is preceded in death by her parents, Polly and J. D. Lambert, Sr., her first husband, Raymond Loessin, her second husband, George R. Cox, Sr., six brothers, two sisters, a step-son, G. Richard Cox, Jr. a grandson, Mark Deal and a granddaughter, Dawn Denise Loessin. Pearl married Raymond Loessin in 1935 and they had five children. Raymond was a farmer in the Petronila area. Raymond died suddenly in January, 1953. With the help of Minnie Loessin, her loving mother-in-law, she helped raise five children. Later, Pearl married George R. Cox, Sr. They lived in Alice, Beeville and Corpus Christi. A life-long Baptist, Pearl modeled to each of her children and grandchildren the Christian values of love, compassion, faith and perseverance. She is survived by her children, Gaynell L. (Burnett) Torgerson, Patsy L. Phillips, Duane (Cooter) Loessin, Darlene L. Starry and W. A. “Shorty” (Vickie) Loessin. Her grandchildren are Amy T. (Brian) Eddins, Ray (Viula) Torgerson, Elizabeth Deal, Timothy Deal, Clayton (Sue) Deal, D’lynn (Russell) Woodward, Rob Loessin, Layne Loessin, Jeff (Robin) Bloomfield, Heather Harris, Sarah (Josh) deGanna and Abby Loessin. She was most proud of her great grandchildren, Anaka Bridges, Alivia, Ashlee and Kyle Eddins, Truitt and Mathis Torgerson, Randi Lynn, Reid and Rayce Deal, Taryn and Kyle Deal, Whitney, Ashlyn and Weston Woodward, Tristan Loessin, LaToya, Alicia and Gabriel Cruz, A. J. Vela, Zachery White, Madison and Kendall Barrera. Nanny Cox’s great great grandchildren are Ryder Deal, Ray Mancilla and twins expected later this year. She is also survived by a step-daughter, Dorothy (Warner) Wicks; a step daughter-in-law, Peggy (Benny) Keller; four step grandchildren; a brother, J. D. Lambert of San Marcos, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family present will be from 4 P.M. until 6 P.M. Friday, July 16, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be conducted at 3 P.M. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Yogi Gaertner officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held at First Baptist Church, 3115 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas in the parlor following the celebration of her life at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ray Torgerson, Timothy and Clayton Deal, Jeff Bloomfield, Rob and Layne Loessin and great grandson, Tristan Loessin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Agua Dulce Baptist Church, P. O. Box 296, Agua Dulce, Texas 78330 or First Baptist Church, 3115 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas 78404. The family gives thanks for Dr. Ronald Munson, Odyssey Hospice and all of her caregivers. We give our thanks to God for blessing us with her presence for many years.
