It is with heavy hearts as we announce the peaceful passing of Leslie Paul Boone, at the age of 77, on Friday morning, September 29th, after a long battle with Parkinson’s and Lewy body dementia. Paul was in his own home in Blanchard, OK surrounded by those he loved most as he took his final gentle breath.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Boone, brother, Wayne Boone, sister, Loyce (Mike) Pearson, son, Brian (Kimberly) Boone, along with their three children, Matthew, Kayla, and Carsen Boone, as well as daughter, Bren (Tom) Petroski, and their three children, Kaed, Kaelyn, and Kye Petroski.
Paul attended school at Tuloso Midway ISD in Corpus Christi, Texas, graduating in 1964. He married Bonnie in 1965 and they attended Texas A&I both securing Bachelor of Science in secondary education. After many years teaching, coaching, and influencing the lives of young people, he moved into the petrochemical field working for over 20 years before retiring to Lake Toledo Bend in Hemphill, Texas where they met life-long friends, and spent 15 plus years, before eventually settling here in Oklahoma.
Paul was a talented craftsman and took pleasure in building things with his hands, but what he will be remembered most for is building up people as a coach in both life and sport. His quiet, but bold presence exemplified the true nature of hard work, honesty, and strong moral compass. He dearly loved his family and adored each of his kids and grandkids. Some of his favorite moments were watching his children compete in sporting events, cooking massive meals as we gathered for a long weekend or holiday, playing card and board games until wee hours of the night, and most of all watching the joy on each face as we spent precious time together.
He found peace in God’s promises as he became a student of the Word and desperately wanted that same comfort for this country. A steadfast Christian, Paul just wanted to walk with Jesus and for others to see Christ through his life he so well-lived. He left this world for a much-earned reward he sought with all his being.
Our prayers for a sweet journey. You will live in our hearts, always my love.
