Patsy Ruth Scull, 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Odem on December 30, 2018. She was the common thread that brought so many people together, friends and family. There is one thing about Patsy that stood out above the rest: She loved having visitors and sharing what she had with them. Truly impressive to watch, she could hold a conversation engaging everyone in the room while cooking an entire meal for the whole family….. and then have the whole kitchen cleaned up without anyone realizing what she was doing because she was still talking and enjoying. So as you can imagine, Patsy was loved and adored by the entire family, immediate and extended. Patsy was completely involved in her community. She was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Odem and she worked at both Planter's Grain Co-Op and Smith Gin Co-Op for many years. She was also a part of the local farming community in partnership with her late husband, Charles Emmett Scull, from taking lunches to the field to hauling grain to the elevator. She is survived by her three children, William Ray Scull (Christie), Patrice Lane (Ernie) and Routt Emmett Scull (Titia), all of Odem; eight grandchildren, James Ray Scull (Amy), Wade Scull (Carly), Bailey Surface (Chris), Jim Massey, Mikalah Gaither (Jarrod), Adam Lane, Rochelle Birmingham (Leonard) and Reanna Clark (Dustin); twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Billie Rae McFarland and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Odem at 10 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
