Patricia “Patty” Fulton Cantu, 64, went to be with our Lord, peacefully, on Sunday, October 10th, 2021. She was born on June 19, 1957 in Corpus Christi, TX to the late James B. and Alice Meza Fulton. She was one of many children, commonly known as the “Fulton Army,” and grew her own family close to her childhood home where she lived for many years. She was always proud of her roots and devoted years to building a written family tree for the history to be preserved. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Juan Cantu Jr, her parents, and siblings Mary Jane Fulton (infant), Cindy Fulton Reifschneider, and Ramon Fulton.
She worked several jobs throughout her life- but especially loved waitressing at Elmo’s City Diner, where she met many people and learned recipes that she cooked for her family to share her love through every meal. She also discovered a talent for making crafts, and made thousands of homecoming mums and garters for kids throughout the city, making each one personalized and special. She is loved by many, and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her siblings: James “Jim” Fulton (Adela), Paula Flores (Ben), George Fulton (wife Dale), Charlie Fulton (Diana), Henry Fulton (Terry), Alice Fulton-Garza (Joe), Amy O. Fulton (Carole), and Oscar Fulton (Christy). She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and extended family members; Children: Patricia “Tricia” Galvan (Reynaldo), Stephanie Cantu, Candace Cantu, Jonathan Cantu (Crissy), and step-daughter Jennifer Gonzalez (Rudy).
She was Grandma to Ciara Vargas (Tony), Xavier Galvan (Misty), Majesta Faith Garza, Jaiden Reyn Galvan, Jordan James Cantu, Jathan Jon Cantu, Jamian Jay Cantu, Jisella Joy Cantu, Hannah Gonzalez, and Rudy T Gonzalez; and “Gigi” to great-grandchildren: Zeyn Xavier Galvan, Antonio Leviticus “Vitty” Vargas, Ivy Del Rey Galvan, Carmine Lavoe Vargas, and Zaria Elyse Castro.
Services will be held at Sawyer George Funeral Home located at 12497 Leopard St., Corpus Christi, Tx on Monday October 25, 2021. In lieu of flowers and in her honor, donations may be made to son, Jonathan, to provide continuous care for her daughter Stephanie.
