Nona Josephine Thomas went to her heavenly home Friday, November 10, 2017. She was born in Megargel, Texas on May 27, 1930 to Duke and Birdie Hampton. Josephine retired from Cardiology Associates of Corpus Christi in 1995 after working there for twenty-five years. She was a member of Arlington Heights Church of Christ. Her many hobbies included oil painting, ceramics, crocheting, sewing, and quilt making. She sold her crafts for many years at local craft fairs and was an active member of the Art Association of Corpus Christi. Josephine was married to Harold Loyd Thomas in 1948 and they shared 49 happy years together until his death in 1997. They loved to travel in their motor home across the country visiting National Parks and family along the way. Josephine is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Kenneth and W.D., son Ronald Wayne, and grandsons Jim Bryan and Shane Moore. She is survived by her brothers; Jerry Ray and John; son, Johnny (Paula) of Bastrop; daughters, Rita Fry (Larry) of Sinton, Debra Wilhite (Kyle) of Rosenberg, and Denise Hendershot (Fred) of New Jersey. Josephine was blessed in life with 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her dearly and have wonderful memories of spending summers with her and Harold. Her family is at peace knowing she is reunited with Harold, who without a doubt was waiting for her at the gates with the motor home running, ready to take her on their next adventure. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 4 P.M. Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Monday, November 13, 2017 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Dale Mathis officiating. Entombment will follow in Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
