Natalie Beatrice Baylor Lane, 98, of Odem, Texas, passed away on March 2, 2014 at a nursing home in Mathis, Texas. She was born on November 11, 1915 in Sharpsburg, Texas to her mother, Jessie May Smith Baylor Hanshaw, and father Claude William Baylor. She lived most of her life in Odem where she graduated from high school. Natalie married H.L. Lane Jr. on October 7, 1933 and had one child, Phyllis Lane Rhyne on September 5, 1938. Natalie was a farmer's wife, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Odem, the United Methodist Women, and several Canasta and Bridge groups. Natalie worked several years as a teacher's aide at the Odem Elementary School. She loved sewing, arranging flowers, dancing, playing cards, watching rodeos and most sports. She was an avid tennis fan. Our "Mimi" is survived by her son-in-law, Max Rhyne of Odem; grandchildren, Loel Rhyne (Nicole) of Austin, Todd Rhyne (Claire) of New Braunfels, Dana Rhyne Aikman (Richard) of Austin, and Tara Rhyne Hartman (Sammy) of Sandia; great-grandchildren, Melissa Moreno McKissack (Cash), Marie Kramer (Brad), Eric Rhyne, Andrew Rhyne, Alex Hartman, Hanah Hartman and Heidi Hartman; and great-great-grandchildren, Jordan Moreno, Taylor Moreno, Wyatt McKissack and Easton McKissack. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 7th in the First United Methodist Church in Odem with Pastor Rosemary Gratton officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
