Myrtle Rice

Myrtle I. Rice, 91, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014. She was born October 12, 1922 in Agua Dulce, Texas to Otto M. Johnson and Varah M. Brooks Johnson. She was a former member of the Onalaska Church of Christ and most recently the Arlington Heights Church of Christ in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Evans Rice; her daughter, Norma Carole Murphy; her son, Richard Eddie Rice; her brothers and sisters, Kathryn Thornton, Nell Blissit, Brooks Johnson, A.C. Johnson, Antha Hahn, Henry Johnson and Forrest Johnson. She is survived by her sons, Gary Douglas Rice of Louise, Texas and Ronald K. (Juanita) Rice, Sr. of Mathis, Texas; her sisters, Deletha Ascensio, of Corpus Christi, Texas and Janette Hallmark (Lytle) Arche of Corpus Christi, Texas; 9 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 6 P.M. with the family present from 4 P.M. until 6 P.M. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, April 24, 2014 in Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Dale Mathis and Pastor John Byerley officiating. Graveside services and burial will be at 3 P.M. Friday, April 25, 2014 in Bold Springs Cemetery near Livingston, Texas.
