Miwako Ohta Flint, beloved wife, mother and friend, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, May 22nd after a fierce battle with cancer. Born in March 1949, she grew up in Yokohama, Japan and is survived by her mother Makiko Ohta who emigrated from Japan, is preceded in death by her father Taiichirou Aoki, and is survived by her brother Shoichi Aoki. In Yokosuka, Miwako met and married David Cummins, who preceded her in death and is father to her surviving children Kris, Sally, T.J. and Emy. In 2004 she married Wayne Smith, who preceded her in death. November 2019 Miwako married her love and champion David Flint Jr., her surviving spouse. She is survived by four grandchildren: Parker, Cade, Claire, and Grayson.
Miwako was adored and loved by all who knew her. She was vivacious and endearing, making those she was with feel welcomed and valued. She was generous with her time and talents, always putting others’ needs first. When Miwako wasn’t enjoying an amazing sushi meal out with David, she was cooking meals for her family or friends. She loved traveling with David, spending time with her mother, children, grandchildren, and friends and spoiling her fur-baby Chan. She was creatively gifted with a beautiful voice often shared in karaoke and with a graceful fluidity on the dance floor that captivated her audience. Miwako is irreplaceable. She is loved. She will be forever deeply missed.
