Minnie Moody

January 15, 1929 — April 9, 2018

On Sunday, April 8, 2018, Jean Moody began her heavenly life after having spent her last few years living with Alzheimer's disease. Jean passed away with her caring family and her loving husband, CL, never leaving her side until her final breath. Jean was a beautiful and elegant soul who loved family and life. Those who knew and loved her will carry her love within their hearts until we are united once again. Jean was born on January 15, 1929 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Kathryn and Sam Wilcox. Jean graduated from Bishop High School and attended A&I University. She and CL have celebrated 70 years of marriage that began when they wed on September 20, 1947. They shared a love and a bond that is rarely found these days. They truly had a fairytale life together. During her life, Jean loved to cook for the family and entertain their many friends. Preparing Sunday family dinners were a favorite of hers with the table elegantly set with fine china and silver and always ending with a delicious dessert. She was a charter member of the Harden Study Club in Bishop. Jean taught Kindergarten in her home for 17 years, before Kindergarten was included in public schools. In 1981, Jean & CL moved to Calallen and became members of Grace United Methodist Church. Besides her husband, CL Moody, she is survived by her daughter, Kathy Gaines Ricks (Patrick) and her son, Russell (Robert Suggs). She is survived by her sisters, Nita Peace and Gloria Whitley (Jim), both of New Braunfels, and her brother, Sam Wilcox (Hilda) of Cooperstown, New York. Jean was affectionately referred to as "MawMaw" by her four loving grandchildren, Billy Gaines, Randy Gaines (Michele), Stan Moody and Sally Mooney (Matt) and four great-grandchildren, Cannon and Waylon Gaines and Jolene and Mason Mooney. Three sisters-in-law, Yvonne Herrmann, Barbara Ann Lawrence, Cookie Moody, and her brother-in-law, David Moody, also survive Jean. Jean was so loved by her many nieces and nephews. The family invites you as they celebrate her life to a visitation from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Rebekah Rochte officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Bishop, Texas. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and sons-in-law, Robert Suggs, Billy Gaines, Randy Gaines, Patrick Ricks, Stanley Moody and Matt Mooney.
