Michael Lloyd Glasgow

July 9, 1948 — August 8, 2024

Corpus Christi

On Thursday, August 8th, Michael "Mike" Lloyd Glasgow passed peacefully at the age of 76. Mike was born on July 9th, 1948, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Lloyd and Jackie Glasgow. He became the eldest of six children after his dad remarried the only grandmother we ever knew, Beverly Tyre. His opinion about having so many siblings is that "you'd think they would have figured out what was causing it after the first or second time." His father had served in the Navy, so he followed suit. At the age of 19, he decided to "hightail it" out of Corpus and enlisted in the Marines. His life was forever changed when he was shipped off to Vietnam to fight in a senseless war. His short service in the military shaped the man and father he would become later on. Mike believed in privacy and loyalty above all. He showed love differently as a father but in his own way. Mike was black & white and very direct, and those are things I came to appreciate and rely on. He loved his football and being out on the open water fishing. Mike was able to live it up back in the 90s, going on annual Super Bowl and World Series trips where he shook a few hands and with pictures to prove it. He was his happiest fishing in Alaska, where he proved his fishing skills. Ironically, the large catches were always on the guided trips. He was able to retire and spend his final days on the back patio, looking out onto the water with that fresh, cool breeze, as he had always wanted. He would have hated having an obituary that was wordy and intimate. I'm sorry, Dad, but you know I’m long-winded just like Pawpaw. "Wink, Smirk."

Mike is preceded in death by his wife Nina Glasgow and by his parents, Lloyd and Beverly Glasgow; sister, Dianne Glasgow; and brother, Brad Glasgow. Of course, he would have said that he was preceded in death by "all of em’."

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Taylor-Smith and husband Lane Smith, son, Samuel Glasgow, and grandchildren, McKenna Taylor and Braden Smith. He also leaves behind two sisters, Brenda Hoelscher and Susan Christensen; one brother, Randy Glasgow; nephews, Allen Glasgow, Conner Glasgow, Misha Hoelscher, and Christopher Christensen.
