Mary Martha Cole

Mary Martha Baker Cole, 91, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at her home. She was born February 3, 1930 in Crystal City, Texas to Jesse Albert Baker, Sr. and Norma Burleson.

Mary graduated from Gonzalez High School in 1948, and graduated from Southwest Texas State Teachers College, San Marcos, Texas in 1952, with a Bachelor’s degree. She was a Home Economics teacher until she met and married Lee Roy Cole on October 28, 1955 in Corpus Christi, Texas. After she married, she became a house wife and the mother of 4 children. She was a Godly Christian woman and very active in her churches. She volunteered as children’s director, Sunday school teacher, Women’s Bible study teacher, and fully supported her husband in his mission work of church building.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Lee Roy Cole; her sister, Doris Howard; her brother, Jesse Albert Baker, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Emmett Cole and Leslie Cole Sr.; sisters-in-law, Elsie Cole and Joyce Baker.

She is survived by her sons, Ron (Leola) Cole of Sandia, TX, Don (Donna) Cole of Corpus Christi, TX, Jess (Jackie) Cole of Corpus Christi, TX; daughter, Jodi (Keith) Mills of Corpus Christi, TX; grandchildren, Misty (Mark) James of Pflugerville, TX, Daniel (Ashley) Cole of Corpus Christi, TX, Brent (Alona) Cole of Round Rock, TX, Meredith (Paul) Paddock of Corpus Christi, TX, Seth Cole of Corpus Christi, TX; 7 great grandchildren, Yana, Sergei, Melody, Nolan, Mary Ellen, Cole, and Pavel; a sister-in-law, Betty Cole of Robstown, TX; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6:00P.M. until 8:00P.M. with the family present on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 11:00A.M., Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Grace Community Church, 1514 Flour Bluff Dr., Corpus Christi, TX. 78418, with Jess Cole officiating.
