Mary G. Wisian went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 26, 2012. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Mary was 98 years old. She was born on April 14, 1913, in Jackson County, Texas, and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She was a "pint-sized" woman with more energy than a new platinum AAA battery. She cared more for most people than they do about themselves. She was a virtual icon in the nursing profession and cared for patients professionally for 47 years until she retired in 1997 - at the age of 87! She may not have been able to cure them all, but Mary made every effort she could to bring relief and comfort to her patients and their families. Her family, friends, and patients genuinely loved her. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence , her granddaughter, Dawn Marie Bernsen, her sister, Allene Thigpen of Goliad, Texas and her sister, Lela Menn of Bishop, Texas. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bette and Bob Bernsen. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church on Hwy. 77 followed by interment at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi, Texas. Pallbearers will be Paul Mostella of Corpus Christi, Texas, Don Maxwell of Gilbert, Arizona, Jake Boultinghouse of Weslaco, Texas, Jack Zeller of Corpus Christi, Texas, John Zeller of San Marcos, Texas and Jason Zeller of Houston, Texas.
