Mary Frances Raska was born January 17,1939 to Anton and Bertha (Urbanovsky) Kocurek and went to be with her Lord and Savior on her birthday, January 17, 2018. She was raised in Clarkwood Texas, the youngest of ten siblings, and was raised and loved dearly by her sisters, Herminia and Lydia. She was cherished and spoiled by her brothers. Mom once said her hardest chore when she was little was sitting on the porch churning butter for their evening meal. Her sisters helped raise Mom right alongside their own children. Mom considered their children as her brothers and sisters. She attended Clarkwood schools before going and graduating from St John's Catholic schools in Robstown. After graduation she worked a short time at South Western Bell where she was introduced to Franklin on a blind date. They married January 19, 1963. She raised four children, Michael, Janet, Jeffery and Leslie. She was an attentive, kind, patient and caring mother and hardly ever raised her voice and never raised her hand. She was always kind, polite and friendly to anyone she would meet. She did not have a mean bone in her body. She was adored by each and every one of her grandchildren. She tried not to miss a ballgame or school activity. She was so proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. She was the biggest fan of each and every one of them. If they gave her a spirit shirt, she would wear it proudly. She adored her dogs, Chrissy and Candy, and made sure Chrissy had an outfit for every occasion. Mary Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Henry Raska in 2000, her sisters, Agnes, Mildred, Herminia and George Picha, Lydia and Ray Iwanski. Her brothers, Joe and Ann Marie Kocurek, Frank Kocurek, Louis and Leona Kocurek, Rudolph and Bonnie Kocurek and Otto and Josephine Raska and brother-in-law, Ted Charba also preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Michael and Emily Raska, Janet and Dale Lichnovsky, Jeffery and Rosie Raska and Leslie and Wes Wittner. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Coleman, Carson and Caragan Raska, Arman and Justin Todd, Cody, Hailey and Hannah Flores, Ryan, Ashley and Kasey Raska, Maile Saenz, Daisy Mejia, Brandon and Kami Wittner, Justin and Whitney Wittner, Rachelle and Rhylee Wittner, her great grandchildren, Emma, Ali, Gwyn, Kamdyn, Brayson and Leighton, and her sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Charba (Leon) and Jeanette Kocurek, and brother-in-law, Harvey and Jody Raska. Visitation will be from 4 P.M. until 6 P.M. with the Rosary to be recited at 6 P.M. Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 A.M. Monday, January 22, 2018 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Robstown Memorial Park. Special thanks to Dr. Narang and Dr. Gupta and all the wonderful nurses and respiratory staff at Post Acute Medical for the loving care you showed our mother. We could not have made it through the last three and half months without you. Special thanks also to all the family and friends for their well wishes and prayers.
