Mary Lou Hutchens Jackson, 77, passed away on October 30, 2015. She was born to David and Martha Hutchens on May 1, 1938 in Mathis, Texas. She was married to Tom Jackson on May 9, 1958. They moved to Corpus in 1966. She worked for Tuloso-Midway ISD in various capacities for 25 years. For the majority of that time she was the principal secretary at the High School, Alternative Ed and the Intermediate School. She gave her heart to Jesus at a very young age and was always a devoted member of her church. For more than 22 years Lou and Tom have been members of First Baptist of Corpus Christi. Lou loved to sing in the choir and helped at the Rec Center and with the Shoe Box ministry. She considered that caring for her family was her most important job. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She loved having all of her family gather for holidays or anything that would bring them together. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her infant daughter, Martha Gayle, and an infant granddaughter, Kimberlyn Cheree Jackson. She is survived by her husband, Tom, her three sons, Tom, Jr. and his wife, Rachel; Robby; Joel and his wife, Cheree; grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, Joree, Louis, Erica Hall and husband, Brandon; and Parker, wife, Marlee and great granddaughter, Lindlee Jackson; sister, Rebecca Dixon, and her husband Don; brother, David Hutchens, Jr. and his wife, Alison. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, November 2, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Corpus Christi, 3115 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas 78404. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the Cenizo Hill Cemetery in Mathis, Texas.
