Mary Ellen Frenzel, 94, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away February 15, 2012. She was born April 19, 1917 in Coleman, Texas to Jesse Cleveland Smith and Beulah Savage Smith. Mary was valedictorian of her graduating class of Coleman High School, received her Bachelor of Science in home economics in 1938 from the University of Texas, and received her Teachers Certificate from Texas A & I in Kingsville, Texas. She married Ed W. Frenzel on August 4, 1938. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, member of the Robstown garden club, member of the First Baptist Church in Robstown, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Robstown, Texas and a school teacher in Robstown for many years. She loved to travel, playing the french horn, playing bridge, sports, University of Texas athletics and was interested in politics and current events. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles W. Smith in 1998 and her husband, Ed Frenzel in 1982. Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Evelyn Just of Buda, Texas; great-grandchildren, Thomas Edward Smith of Sandia, Texas and Crystal Christine (Brian Andrew) Horton of Buda, Texas. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in the Robstown Memorial Park.
