Mary Chloe Crisp, age 92, our beloved mother and grandmother, affectionately called, "Granny", passed from this life to Heaven, on Sunday evening, July 23, 2023 in Corpus Christi, Tx. Mary Chloe was born on October 23, 1930, to Richard Douglas and Alice Bellows in Three Rivers, Texas.
Mary Chloe was married to Marcus “Tinker” Crisp on December 14, 1956 and they were married for 45 years. She and Tinker met over the phone while she was a switchboard operator in Three Rivers, Texas. Her most important life’s work was raising her three children: Chloe Ann, Mark, and Connie. Mary Chloe and Tinker attended West Heights Baptist Church where they both came to know the Lord, and later in their lives were members of River Hills Baptist Church.
Mary Chloe was the Sunday-lunch-after-church Granny who served up her famous “chicken-n-dumplings” every Sunday for her husband, kids, and grandkids. She was known as a prayer warrior to her family, and most nights you could find her asleep with her Bible open. She was always loving and encouraging to those around her and was eager to help those in need. Mary Chloe prayed for many people, and encouraged faith in the lives of countless more.
Mary Chloe was preceded in death by her husband Marcus Elvin “Tinker” Crisp, parents Richard Douglas & Alice Bellows, brothers Clyde (Velma) Bellows, Richard (Norma) Bellows, Royce (Vernell) Bellows, J.G (Darlene) Bellows, Dudley Bellows, Reuben Bellows, brother-in-law Calvin Blaschke, and son-in-law Brian Hatch.
Mary Chloe is survived by her children Chloe Ann Hatch, Marcus (Lori) Crisp, and Connie (Barry) Pickens of Corpus Christi, Tx her sister, Ruth Blaschke, her brother Dewey (Dolores) Bellows, sister-in-laws Mildred Bellows & Lana Bellows, her grandchildren, Denise (Matthew) Wright, Phillip (Rebecca) Pickens, Aimee (Anthony) McCrite, Michael (Tracie) Hatch, Aaron (Korina) Pickens, Cindy Crisp, Jan (Chase) Renegar, Emily (Zachary) Bowden, Joshua (Amanda) Crisp, Sara (Brandon) Schumacher, Katie Allsup, 20 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at Sawyer-George Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Tx, on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 10am with Marcus E Crisp, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 9am to 10am. Interment service to follow at Sandia Cemetery at 12pm. Pallbearers will be Phillip Pickens, Michael Hatch, Aaron Pickens, Joshua Crisp, Matthew Wright, Brandon Schumacher, Chase Renegar, Caleb Wright, and Hunter McCrite.
