Martha Montgomery

Martha Darleen Montgomery was born on January 20, 1935 to Frank and Eunice (Power) Montgomery in Odem, Texas. She went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2017 at 82 years young. Martha graduated from Odem High School as Valedictorian in 1953. She graduated from Abilene Christian College in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She taught school in Odem, Texas and Corpus Christi, Texas and was a Mary Kay Cosmetics Regional Director. While all of the above is true, foremost Martha was a Christian. She loved and served the Lord all her life. Her family and four others were instrumental in the locating of a Church of Christ in Odem. She is truly a Proverbs 31 woman. Her greatest joy was teaching children about God. Anyone who was blessed to have her as a teacher has much to say about Miss Martha. Preceding her in death were her parents, Frank and Eunice Montgomery. Survivors include a number of cousins, her church family and a host of other friends. Visitation will be from 4 P.M. until 6 P.M. Sunday, July 30, 2017 in Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 P.M. Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Odem Church of Christ with Patrick Hammack and Roy Smalling officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Odem, Texas. Those who wish may make contributions to the Odem Church of Christ.
