Mark D. Strong passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on June 21, 2019. He was born August 27, 1956, in Mansfield, Missouri. Mark graduated from Edinburg High School in 1974, then took Art at Baylor University. After Baylor, he completed an online course for Forestry Service, and then went to a marine school to get his commercial Captain’s degree and diver’s degree. He graduated also with an Associate’s degree of Nursing from the Shriner’s college in Kerrville. Mark’s heart was in working with sick children. He also had a big heart for underprivileged children. Mark loved art and playing the guitar and other instruments, and reading. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Arland J Strong, and his brother, Donald E Strong. Survivors include his daughter, Corina Strong, whom he dearly loved, his mother, Christine Strong, his nephew, Steven Strong, and niece, Shanna Perez. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and great nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Odem, TX on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in honor of Mark to the American Cancer Society or CASA of the Coastal Bend.
